Orchestra Aurea is a symphonic ensemble that focuses primarily on the classical repertoire, performed in the so-called golden frequency of 432 Hz, with the aim of fostering warmth, clarity, and a more naturally breathing sound quality. Early findings suggest that this frequency is associated with reduced heart rates and a greater sense of relaxation during listening, consistent with the widespread perception of a softer, more corporeal sound.
The ensemble’s name brings together the idea of the golden frequency and the cultural model of the golden ratio, a symbol of balanced proportions, harmonic order, and refined expression.
Our vision is to recreate an orchestral sound rooted in historically informed performance practice, making newly perceptible what may seem already familiar. We collaborate with specialists in historical performance — particularly wind players who use original or reconstructed Classical-era instruments — so that articulation, intonation, and timbre can integrate organically with the reference to the golden frequency.
Our internal structure is non-hierarchical, and interpretive decisions develop through dialogue within the sections, resulting in a vibrant, cohesive, and fully shared artistic outcome.
Building on the concept of the golden frequency, we devote ourselves to developing a historically informed performance practice with a distinctly personal character and to the continual evolution of a sound ideal inspired by tradition. Beyond the material aspects of performance, we are especially concerned with its spiritual foundations, which we consciously seek within realms of inner reflection and spirituality. At the heart of our work lies the perception of a vital energy generated by music and its transformative potential, understood more broadly also as a force of personal balance and healing.
From this perspective emerges our desire to cast seemingly well-known works of the classical repertoire in a new acoustic light, rediscovering them again and again. For us, tradition represents a commitment to continuous reflection and systematic transformation within fully open interpretative processes.
A central role is played by the emotions that music — and the act of making music — evokes. We regard music as the direct and immediate language of the passions. We act out of joy and delight, we are capable of inspiring enthusiasm, engaging, and drawing in our audience. More broadly, our artistic approach is defined by a deep attentiveness to the listener: we see ourselves as hosts who warmly welcome their guests, and the concert as a unique sensory experience in which a nearly magical connection between orchestra and audience can — and should — arise.
This distinctive blend of community and individuality also shapes our identity as an organization. In exercising their personal freedom, each member assumes responsibility for the success of the whole. Solidarity and participation create space for genuine collective experimentation, guided by a conductor who sees himself primarily as a facilitator of communication and interaction rather than as a leader in the emphatic, traditional sense.
